The incident took place in Hartford around 10:15 a.m., Friday, June 10 at 25 Laurel St., at the Underwood Elderly Apartments.

When officers arrived on the scene they located the man who was suffering from serious injuries due to the crash, said Sgt. Chris Mastroianni of the Hartford Police.

The victim was immediately transported to an area hospital where he died from his injuries, Mastroianni said.

The victim lived at the apartment complex where he was hit, he added.

The victim has not been identified pending notification of family members.

The driver of the vehicle, a delivery box truck, remained on the scene and was cooperative, police said.

"At this time in the investigation, it appears that the truck collided with the pedestrian while backing and appears accidental in nature," Mastroianni said.

The Crime Scene Division is currently investigating this incident and charges may be pending.
