Albert E. Lewis, 85, Of Crompond CROMPOND, N.Y. – Albert E. “Gene” Lewis, of Crompond, died on Wednesday, Aug. 12. He was 85. Lewis was born in the Bronx on Dec. 15, 1929, to Albert and Kathleen Lewis. He served n the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1950. Lewis is survived by his wife, Marie, two daughters, Joan Caputo and Barbara DiMartino, and son, Steven, seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Rogelio Martinez, 79, Of Bridgeport BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Rogelio (Tatin) Martinez, a longtime resident of Bridgeport, died on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was 79. Martinez was born in Cuba on April 18, 1936, to Rogelio and Veronica Cortez Martinez. He worked as a machine operator at Heim Bearing Corporation of Fairfield. Substance Abuse Treatment Center Proposed In Croton CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A proposal by the Hudson Valley Wellness Center in Croton-On-Hudson into a substance abuse treatment center was filed recently, according to the Examiner News. The site, 2016 Quaker Ridge Road in Croton, covers roughly 21 acres spreading across Ossining and New Castle. The Examiner News noted that both municipalities would have to approve the proposal. Mahopac Man, 19, Charged With DWI In Route 6 Stop CARMEL, N.Y. – State police in Carmel arrested a Mahopac man for driving while intoxicated on Saturday. Michael J. Carey Jr., 19, was arrested after troopers at the Mobil station along Route 6 observed his vehicle for about 15 minutes. Carey was arrested after troopers approached his car to perform a welfare check, and he got out of his Volkswagen to identify himself. He was issued traffic tickets for an appearance at Carmel Town Court on Aug. 25.

Woman Charged In Theft Of Jewelry From Kohl's In Cortlandt CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Peekskill woman was arrested by State Police on Monday on a misdemeanor charge of petit larceny after she was accused of stealing jewelry from Kohl's department store in Cortlandt. Martha Inga-Pani, 28, was apprehended after a Kohl's employee noticed that she had roughly $100 of jewelry and socks on her person and walked around the register. Inga-Pani was issued an appearance ticket for Aug. 24 in Cortlandt Town Court.
