Westport Police extradited a Massachusetts woman back to Connecticut after she was allegedly identified as one of three people wanted for stealing a wallet and attempting to use the credit cards inside, police said.

Francisca Duran-Cabrera was formally charged on Thursday, July 18, for the incident which took place on Sunday, March 17, at the Home Goods on Post Road East, said Westport Police Lt. Anthony Prezioso.

In March, a woman filed a complaint with police that her wallet had been stolen while shopping in the store. The missing wallet contained cash and several credit cards, Prezioso said.

When the victim was canceling her credit cards she was told that a large purchase had been made and that a second had been attempted.

Surveillance video was obtained from the locations at which the credit cards were used to make and attempt these unauthorized purchases.

Through a review of the surveillance video, police found that there was a total of three suspects working together; one male and two females, he added.

Through an investigation, as well as through information sharing by members of the detective bureau with other law enforcement agencies, Westport Police was able to positively identified Duran-Cabrera and a warrant was obtained for her arrest.

Duran-Cabrera was taken into custody in Massachusetts and then extradited by Westport Police.

She was charged with theft of a credit card, illegal use of a credit card, identity theft, conspiracy to commit theft of a credit card, conspiracy to use a credit card, and conspiracy to commit identity theft.

Duran-Cabrera is being held $100,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, July 19 for arraignment.
