The incident took place around 11 p.m., Monday, Oct. 21, when Officer Brian Andronaco noticed smoke in the Cos Cob section of Greenwich, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz.

He tracked the source to a commercial business at 522 East Putnam Ave. which houses Pizza Post, Gofer Ice Cream, and several other businesses and offices, said Slusarz.

Flames were shooting out of the first and second floors when he arrived on the scene.

Andronaco alerted the Greenwich Fire Department who found fire on the first floor that had rapidly spread to the second floor and through the roof.

The fire department said Engines 3 and 4 were also called to assist. Crews worked hard to bring the fire under control.

The cause and origin are being investigated by the Fire Department.

No injuries were reported.
