Norwalk Man Charged With Animal Cruelty After Pet Alpaca Dies

NORWALK, Conn. -- A 35-year-old Norwalk resident was charged with one count of animal cruelty after an injured alpaca named 'Jimmy' was discovered in the front yard of a home at 1141 West Norwalk Road, according to The Hour.

The police arrested a Norwalk resident on one count of animal cruelty on Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, a resident contacted the police after seeing the alpaca lying in the front yard of a home owned by Jose Saquinaula-Sarez for two days, reported The Hour.

The alpaca's poor condition left it unable to stand, and maggots were discovered on its body, The Hour said. It died at the scene and the death is still being investigated, reported The Hour.

Saquinaula-Sarez is expected to return to the Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 7, according to The Hour.
