The incident began around 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the AT&T store on Route 7 in Norwalk, said Norwalk Police Lt. Jared Zwickler.

Zwickler said the incident began with a call to police regarding the disturbance and while en route to the location, they were informed that the suspect had stolen a vehicle.

Responding officers spotted the vehicle and attempted to stop it, however, the subject failed to stop, Zwickler.

Police supervisors terminated the brief pursuit notified surrounding agencies and the state police of the description of the vehicle, he said.

Troopers out of the Bridgeport barracks spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to make a stop, said the Connecticut State Police.

Instead of stopping the driver instead engaged police in a pursuit that went into West Haven crashing into various vehicles including a police vehicle.

"There have been reports of an officer-involved shooting that occurred in the town of West Haven stemming from this aforementioned incident," state police said in a statement.

At some point, the suspect stopped and the suspect was shot and killed by troopers, the state police said.

State police did not offer additional information regarding the shooting, but a state police spokesman said no troopers were injured.

The man has not been identified, state police said.
