A man who was warming up his vehicle had it stolen after a person with a gun got into the car, Bridgeport Police said.

The incident took place around 8 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, on the 400 block of Wells Street, said Scott Appleby, Director of Office Of Emergency Management.

No injuries were sustained by the victim, but the incident has officials warning against the practice.

"Bridgeport PD advises the public to deter from warming up their vehicles when no one is present," Appleby said.
