The identity of a 20-year-old man victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash on I-95 in Westport has been released.
Brian Andersen of Westport, a passenger in the back seat, was killed after he was ejected from the vehicle during the crash around 3:45 a.m. Sunday, according to the Connecticut State Police.
The crash occurred when the driver, Jeffrey Gibbons, 17, also of Westport, lost control of the BMW 340i, he was driving southbound on I-95. The vehicle smashed into the metal beam guardrail, continued south and hit a DOT sign and a bridge joiner, before rolling over and ejecting Andersen, state police said.
Andersen was transported to Norwalk Hospital by AMR where he was pronounced dead. The driver, and another passenger, Joshua Alicea, 16, were also transported by Westport EMS to the hospital for treatment.
The roadway remained closed for several hours while collision analysis reconstruction squad members processed and documented the scene with assistance from state DOT.
