Amy Moran, age 44, of West Redding, was arrested by Darien Police on Tuesday, April 27 for the crash which took place in March, on Post Road in Darien, said Sgt. James Palmieri.

When the crash occurred, officers found a single white vehicle resting against the bridge abutment on the side of the eastbound lane of Post Road, Palmieri said.

Contact was made with Moran, who was in the driver’s seat. When asked what had occurred, initially Moran told officers the vehicle belonged to her but that she hadn’t been driving it.

She said the driver had left the scene on foot. Based on the damage, it was unlikely that a second person would have been able to exit the vehicle, Palmieri said.

Officers attempted to speak with Moran and have her exit the vehicle, but she became belligerent and began to physically resist.

Due to her resistance and the possibility that she needed medical attention, field sobriety testing was not administered.

Moran was transported to the hospital. Once at the hospital, Moran continued to be combative with both officers and hospital staff. Once calmed, Moran was left in the care of the hospital, Palmieri said.

In March, officers obtained blood-draw records from the hospital via search warrant. The records indicated that at the time of testing, Moran’s B.A.C. was .16, or twice the legal limit.

Moran was charged with DUI and interfering with an officer and released on a $500 bond.

She is due in court on Friday, May 28.
