$2,000 Reward Offered For Information On Greenwich Bank Robber

GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Connecticut Bankers Reward Association will offer up to a $2,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of a man wanted for robbing a pair of banks in Greenwich, police announced Tuesday.

A man robbed a Chase Bank on West Putnam Avenue on Sept. 6, getting away with several thousand dollars, Greenwich police said. He is believed to the same man who robbed a People's United Bank on Greenwich Avenue on Aug. 28, police said.

The manhunt for the suspect after the Aug. 28 robbery in Greenwich led Metro-North to stop trains at the nearby station and caused hours of delays.

The suspect is also believed to be connected with another bank robbery in Linden, N.J., police announced last week. 

Witnesses describe the suspect as a Hispanic male of medium build from 5-foot-4 to 5-foot-6. He was wearing a black baseball cap with a straight brim, a gray thermal type shirt and dark pants in the bank robbery Thursday.

It is believed that after exiting the bank he went around the corner and departed the area in an older black midsize sedan. The vehicles paint was described as "dingy" or sun damaged. The windows were possible lightly tinted or smoked out.
