GREENWICH, Conn. — Greenwich resident Jeff Glor, a 10-year veteran of CBS News, officially takes the reins as the new anchor of "CBS Evening News" on Monday, Dec. 4.

Glor, 42, makes his debut on tonight's show, which is broadcast at 6:30 p.m. on WCBS and WFSB in Connecticut.

"I can't wait to highlight the exceptional, ongoing work of my colleagues every single night," Glor said. "We are focused on delivering a newscast powered by reporting and writing that will get to the heart of the issues that impact our viewers wherever they are."

"I'm thrilled to be a part of the immensely talented team at the 'CBS Evening News' and be a part of its future."

Glor replaces former Darien resident Scott Pelley, who left the job at the end of May and moved to "60 Minutes."

The "CBS Evening News" will also be replayed each night at 10 p.m. on the CBSN streaming service, an additional viewing opportunity for people who aren't around a television set at dinnertime.

When CBS News President David Rhodes announced the next "CBS Evening News" anchor, he said Glor "represents the best journalistic values and traditions that will carry the CBS Evening News into a digital future."

"Jeff is a thoughtful, probing journalist with the versatility to anchor in any circumstance -- from daily reporting to the most significant events of our time," Rhodes added.

Over the last 10 years with the network, Glor has reported across the globe for virtually all CBS News broadcasts and digital platforms. He has anchored numerous breaking news stories, including most recently in the field for Hurricane Irma and in the studio for the Las Vegas shootings.

Glor was a lead anchor on CBSN, CBS' 24/7 streaming news service during its launch.

Glor, 42, joined CBS News in 2007 as a correspondent based in New York. He covered some of the biggest breaking news stories of the last decade, including the Sandy Hook shootings, the Boston Marathon bombings, and the landfall of Superstorm Sandy. He won an Emmy in 2011 for a "CBS Sunday Morning" story.
