Klein was selected from a pool of 52 applicants after an extensive search process. The Board of Selectmen said Klein "has an impressive record of achievement in the world of information technology," according to a release. Klein will start April 16 and will earn $150,000 annually.
A senior content architect with Avon Products in New York City, he is responsible for planning, design, delivery and support of Avon’s digital marketing ecosystems. The work entails multinational websites, mobile applications and social media commerce in more than 60 international markets and for more than 6 million sales representatives worldwide, according to the release.
Klein previously served as director of IT for Forbes Inc., where he was responsible for the 24/7 global operations and strategic planning for all technology across the enterprise. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Iona College and a master’s degree in management information systems from Boston University.
"Given his work experience, Mr. Klein has a clear understanding of the management issues faced by a small IT department serving a large organization and proven technical ability in operating the ‘nuts and bolts’ of an IT system as well as internet based systems and social media," said First Selectman Peter J. Tesei. "We believe that Tom Klein has just the right combination of experience, expertise and personal qualities to lead the Town of Greenwich’s IT efforts for the betterment of our community and its citizens and employees.”
