Windsor resident Andrew Cunningham, 39 has been sentenced to 216 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to charges late last year.

In March 2017, Cunningham began communicating with a 13-year-old girl on Omegle, a website and mobile app designed to pair strangers for text and video chants. Cunningham first posed as a 17-year-old, before stating that he was 25 years old.

Cunningham and his victim spoke through text messaging and phone calls for a week, during which time, Cunningham enticed her to send him sexually explicit photos of herself and attempted to get her to travel to Connecticut.

According to U.S. AttorneyJohn Durham, Cunningham has been in custody since May 2, 2017, when he was arrested on similar state charges. He pleaded guilty to illegal sexual contact with a minor and enticement of a minor and is currently serving a three-year sentence.

On Nov. 6 last year, Cunningham pleaded guilty in federal court in New Haven of one count of enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity.

Durham noted that Cunningham was a registered sexual offender who was on probation at the time of his latest transgression.

In 2014, Cunningham traveled to Illinois and engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl.  He had told the girl he was 25 years old when, in fact, he was 34 at the time. In 2015, he was convicted in Illinois of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a minor and was sentenced to five years in prison and two years of mandatory supervised release. He was released from prison in December 2016.
