The incident took place around 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Sunset Road and West Trail in Stamford, said Stamford Fire Chief Trevor Roach.

"The driver did the right thing and kept the children on the bus and called 911," the chief said.

Roach said the roads were very slippery at the time and likely caused the crash.

Eversource was contacted right away and was on the scene within 20 minutes to terminate power to the live wires, Roach said.

The three students onboard, from Rippowam and AITE schools, and the driver were safely removed from the bus within an hour.

No one was injured.
