GREENWICH, Conn. -- The Hyatt Regency Greenwich will hold a special ephemera conference and an exhibit featuring sports and entertainment activities through historic ephemera from March 20 through 22.
This one-of-a-kind conference features the finest vintage paper and ephemera exhibitors from across the United States, Canada and Europe. Ephemera, paper items that were meant to be discarded after use, are items that have now become collectibles, including tin, plastic, metal and more.
Treasures such as posters, catalogs, valentines, postcards, pamphlets, broadsides, tickets, invitations, autographs, sheet music, letterheads, manuscripts, trade cards, photographs, playing cards, political propaganda and much more can be found at this show. Collectors will delight in this rare merchandise while enjoying conferences, talks, discussions and presentations.
This year’s feature exhibit, “The Sporting Life,” will spotlight a variety of sports, games, pastimes and entertaining activities through historic ephemera. Attendees will learn about subjects such as baseball's early days, the role of African-American athletes in basketball and how the changing values of society impacted recreational activities throughout history.
The event will be from 8:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 20; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 21; and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 22. The Hyatt Regency hotel is located at 1800 E. Putnam Ave. (Route 1) in Old Greenwich. The cost for adults is $14 and youths ages 12 to 21 are $6. Ephemera Society of America members pay only $10.
