Greenwich High Senior Elected To Top Post At Boys Nation

GREENWICH, Conn. — Greenwich High School senior Aaron Jaffe was one of just two students selected from over 200 from across the state who attended the 75th Annual Connecticut American Legion Boys State program to travel to Washington, D.C., for the American Legion Boys Nation program.

The program in D.C. was held July 22 to July 29.

At Boys Nation, Jaffe was elected by his peers to the position of Senate President Pro Tempore on July 23, and presided over all Boys Nation Senate sessions during his tenure.

“It was an incredible honor to be elected,” said Jaffe. “I’m truly humbled by this opportunity and by the support that my fellow senators have given me throughout the election process.”

After defeating 15 other Senators over six rounds of balloting, Jaffe began his duties as President Pro Tempore, naming a Chief Clerk of the Senate, a Senate Parliamentarian, a Senate Chaplain, and a Sergeant- at-Arms of the Senate.

He held his position until the election of the Vice President of Boys Nation later in the week.

One of five Greenwich High students who participated in Boys State, Jaffe served as a state senator before attending Boys Nation. He received a $1,000 scholarship from Connecticut American Legion Boys State in recognition of his selection to Boys Nation.
