Officers responded to Patriot Fuels on Boston Post Road after a masked man, wearing blue surgical gloves, allegedly pointed a black handgun at the cashier’s head and demanded money from the register. After securing the cash, the suspect fled on foot.

Investigators, who were tracking similar crimes in Milford, noticed a white SUV — previously linked to other incidents — parked at the nearby Shoreline Motel. Officers located the suspect, Samuel Carmon, 69, of New Haven, inside a motel room, dressed in clothing matching the suspect’s description, including bright blue sneakers.

During a search of Carmon’s vehicle, police recovered large amounts of cash, surgical gloves, and masks identical to those used in the robbery.

Carmon was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery. He was held on a $500,000 bond, police said.
