Fairfield  beat Seymour, 7-0, on Wednesday as Kylee Holderied pitched a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts. The teams meet again on Thursday at 6 p.m. in Wallingford for the Section 1 title. The winner advances to the state championship series against Waterford.

While Holderied mastered the mound, Fairfield's win was a team effort with the bats. Bridget Keary's two-run single in the second started the scoring. Bella Brookas and Serena Ta reached base before Keary's hit.

Fairfield was robbed of hits by good defense by Seymour. Fairfield was strong defenisvely as well, playing an error-free game and not allowing a Seymour runner beyond second base.

The championship game will feature a rematch with different pitchers for each team. Haley Bivens will pitch for Fairfield. She allowed three hits and two runs in a 12-2 win over Farmington previously in the tournament.
