Fairfield police opened an investigation in September and accused Glenn Mishuck, 47, of Bridgeport, of having a sexual relationship with a female student under the age of 18 from July to September, police said.
Officers uncovered text messages between Mishuck and the student that supported the case, police said. At that point, officers determined that Mishuck had engaged in at least 17 encounters with the victim, police said. (Read more about his arrest here on The Daily Voice.)
A posting at "Rate My Teacher," a website that grades educators, gave Mishuck an overall grade of 76 percent. One poster who graded him at 86 percent said, "i love mish he is a great teacher and i really feel that i learned a lot in his class."
But the website also included this comment, posted last month by a user who gave Mishuck a grade of 40 percent: "This dude is a jacka**, he literally has flipped two desks onto students when I was right there. The kids were in the desks as well, then he would say 'whatever happens in the class stays there.' Absolute bs. Just a bad man overall who thought he had much more power than he really did. OH and recently he had an affair with a 17 year old girl, NICE JOB MAN REAL SMART MOVE! thanks for nothing."
Documents obtained by the New Haven Register through a Freedom of Information request show Mishuck resigned Oct. 7 after he had been on a leave of absence. He had been placed on a leave of absence when the police investigation began, according to the school district.
In a statement, the Fairfield School District declined to comment beyond explaining the timeline of the police investigation.
“When the school district was made aware of the allegation on September 18, 2013 we immediately placed Mr. Mishuck on paid administrative leave and fully cooperated with the Fairfield Police Department investigation,” the statement said. “It is the policy of the Fairfield Public Schools not to comment on any personnel issues involving current or former employees. Accordingly, Fairfield Public Schools will have no comment on Mr. Mishuck’s employment with the Fairfield Public Schools, the circumstances surrounding his resignation or the issues surrounding his arrest.”
He was being held on $150,000 bond pending a court date of Nov. 12.
