Her professional career aligns with her passion for the upcoming house tour to benefit the Near & Far Aid Association, Inc., which provides funding for agencies and programs in Fairfield County that are working to break the cycle of poverty. The tour will be held Friday, May 6, in Fairfield, Southport and Westport.

“Our all-volunteer board works diligently to ensure our donors’ dollars have maximum impact,’’ Smith said.

The tour opens doors to five exclusive homes decorated by renowned designers in Fairfield, Southport and Westport. The tour, “Celebrating the Art of Living,” begins with breakfast at the Patterson Club in Fairfield featuring visionary designer Anthony Baratta.

New to this year’s tour is an afternoon tea party from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at a stunning private home. The tea party will be catered by the Royal Tea Company. Tickets for the tea party are $35 per person.

Ticket prices for the Designer House Tour are $65 in advance or $75 on the day of the tour. The Designer Breakfast is $75.

Smith has been a long-time board member for Near & Far Aid, an all-volunteer organization. The house tour started in 1973, and Smith has been one of the organization’s key members in pulling together the pieces for the tour. “We’re targeting poverty, changing lives,’’ Smith said.

Near & Far Aid works with other community leaders and funders to forge partnerships with a common goal of strengthening the community. It is currently working with more than 100 local agencies and has granted over $15 million since 2000.

“We work to eliminate poverty in Fairfield County by finding and funding programs that seek to achieve lasting change,’’ Smith said.
