A special town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in Room 133 of Town Hall, 100 Pocono Road.
Fifteen towns throughout Connecticut have been approved to receive funding under the state's Small Town Economic Assistance Program, which assists smaller communities with infrastructure and capital improvement projects. Brookfield is one of the 15 towns receiving a grant and one of the few towns receiving the maximum amount of $500,000. The grants announced are the first of several rounds anticipated to be announced during this year.
The appropriation will be fully funded from the 2016 STEAP Grant for Streetscape Improvements at Four Corners within the grant guidelines. The STEAP-granted streetscape will support the new downtown with necessary sidewalks, parking and bike lane construction for Brookfield’s Downtown District at Four Corners.
