Teen Killed, Two Injured In I-95 Crash, Police Say

An 18-year-old was killed and two others injured during a crash on I-95 in Fairfield County after the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle. 

Destiny Arriaga, of Bridgeport, died following the crash that took place around 9:20 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8, when the driver, of the Honda Accord she was a passenger in went down an embankment on I-95 in Stratford, said the Connecticut State Police.

The driver, Gilberto Jose Carpio, of Bridgeport, allegedly hit a metal beam guard rail on the right shoulder, sending the car hurtling down a steep embankment, state police said.

Carpio and another passenger Michael Jackson, of Stratford, received minor injuries, state police said.

Arriaga died from her injuries a few hours following the crash at Bridgeport Hospital, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
