Perrie Mason, 31, was reported missing Sunday, Aug. 18, by her fiance Jason Watts, said the Meriden Police Department.

The department said that the Major Crimes Division is "actively processing all related evidence in an attempt to ascertain the whereabouts of Ms. Mason," after the discovery of human remains at 137 Brookside Road, the location of Baystate Textiles, in Waterbury, where Watts works.

Watts was arrested by police on Wednesday, Aug. 21, on domestic abuse charges in connection with an earlier event. He is being held on $500,000 bond, police said.

The abuse was uncovered when the missing woman's sister went to police with text message photos showing injuries from a dispute with Watts, court papers show.

Mason made two 911 calls on Saturday, Aug. 17, and then her phone was turned off. She has not been heard or seen since.

Meriden police say it may several weeks for positive identification of the remains found.

'We are still working with Ms. Mason's family and anticipate further updates in the near future," the department said.

In the meantime, her two children are being cared for by her sister. To help defray costs of hiring an attorney to obtain temporary custody, friends have started a GoFundMe effort. More than $3,800 of a $5,000 goal had been raised as of Friday, Aug. 23.

Anyone with information regarding Mason is asked to contact Det. Femia at 203-630-6219.
