The car, a Volkswagen Passat, crashed into a tree around 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 in Darien.

The driver of the Passat, a 19-year-old Norwalk woman, “veered off the road to the right for an unknown reason,” after taking the Exit 10 off-ramp from I-95, Connecticut State Police said.

The car then went through a grass area before hitting a tree and sustaining heavy damage, according to police.

There were four passengers in the car, all Norwalk residents ages 19 and 20.

One of them, 19-year-old Victor Emmanuel Deleon, of Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and three other passengers in the car were rushed to Norwalk and Stamford hospitals with serious injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by state police.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call 203-696-2500.
