An area man has been arrested for the alleged June murder of a North Carolina man who grew up in the area and was back staying with his mother.

Eugene Brown, 35, of Bridgeport, was arrested on Monday, Sept. 16, by Bridgeport Police Officer Mark Martocchio for the Monday, June 24, shooting death of Anthony McKinstry, 30, said Terron Jones, spokesman for the Bridgeport Police.

"The arrest was the result of the outstanding work done by Detective Jorge Cintron and all the others that assisted in this case," said Lt. Christopher LaMaine.

McKinstry was found lying in a pool of blood on Bishop Avenue with a gunshot wound to the back of his head, police said at the time of the homicide.

Brown was charged with murder, felony use of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, and carrying a pistol without a permit.

Police released little other information regarding the murder.

He is being held on $1 million bail.
