A 21-year-old man allegedly hit another patron in the face with a beer bottle at a local restaurant.
Michael Zazuri, 21, of Monroe, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 21, after he struck another patron in the face with a beer bottle while at Prime One Eleven on the Monroe Turnpike, said Trumbull Police Capt. Keith Golding.
The incident took place around 11:40 p.m. when a man approached two officers who were hired to work a security detail at the restaurant and reported that he had just been assaulted by an unidentified man while he was in the men’s room.
The victim, who had obvious facial injuries, told the officers that while he was waiting in line, Zazuri cut in front of several patrons and used the facilities. Witnesses stated that when Zazuri was leaving, another unknown male pushed him from behind. Zazuri then turned and struck the victim in the face with a beer bottle he had in his hand, Golding said.
Several patrons pointed out Zazuri as officers searched through the heavily crowded bar area. Zazuri appeared to be intoxicated and became belligerent when he was approached by the officers.
He was escorted outside where he attempted to walk away several times. As he was taken into custody, Zazuri turned and struck one of the officers in the face causing a minor injury, Golding said.
Zazuri was charged with assault, breach of peace, interfering with an officer, and assault on an officer.
He is being held on $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 30.
