William Gauvin, of Andover, Massachusetts, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison, followed by 10 years of supervised release after pleading guilty to one count of receipt of child pornography. He admitted to soliciting a 17-year-old boy to engage in sexually explicit conduct over Skype earlier this year. He later paid the teen more than $3,000 using PayPal.
The hometown of the teenager has not been released.
Between October 2016 and March last year, Gauvin, using the name “Will Wiggins,” solicited the teenager, John Durham, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, said. In exchange for the minor victim sending him visual depictions of the sexual acts, Gauvin paid him more than $3,000 online using PayPal.
According to documents and statements made in court, Gauvin also asked the teen to persuade his 15-year-old brother to engage in similar sexually explicit conduct in exchange for more money. Durham noted that Gauvin lived in Worcester at the time of the lewd acts. The investigation into Gauvin also determined that he paid other minor victims to engage in additional sexually explicit activities online. He was arrested on Nov. 1 last year.
Gauvin remains released on a $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to report to prison on Feb. 15 next year.
