The Norwalk Public School District said it was notified on Friday, Sept. 25 that a member of the Columbus Magnet School community tested positive.

That person has been instructed to remain home in self-isolation and has been provided with additional instructions to follow prior to returning to school, the district said.

The last day this person was in the school was Wednesday, Sept. 16.

Family members have also been instructed to contact their healthcare provider about getting tested.

Any student required to self-quarantine will have access to virtual instruction.

"Anyone who is considered a 'close contact' with this person has been contacted or will be contacted directly by school or local health officials, and provided with instructions on the appropriate steps to take," the district said. "Some members of our community will receive instructions on a mandatory quarantine. A staff member will contact you if your student is impacted".

In consultation with our local health department and our district medical advisor, one Columbus Magnet School classroom has been instructed to transition to virtual instruction until Thursday, Oct. 1.
