“There is meaning in the word kit,’” said Sonsoem, owner of the new Fairfield restaurant. “It means ‘keep in touch’ in Taiwanese,” she said. “I want people to think of us when they want to go out to lunch or dinner.”
After a soft opening in October, Sonsoem and co-owner Kamol Uttarapas celebrated their official grand opening on Nov. 14. They welcomed first selectman Michael Tetreau, community and economic development director Mark Barnhart and chamber of commerce president Beverly Balaz to a ribbon cutting at their Post Road storefront.
“I love Fairfield,” said Sonsoem, a New Haven resident who recently earned her MBA at the University of New Haven. “I came to town to find a space that is good enough for our restaurant and patrons.”
The cozy eatery is located near the Black Rock border in what was the short-lived home to another Thai restaurant. However, Sonsoem believes she has the recipe for success.
Thai Kit’s extensive menu boasts many Thai favorites, including Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles, as well as spicy salads, noodle and fried rice dishes, soups and curries. Lime Chili Chicken and Lemongrass Chicken have quickly become the crowd favorites in the opening weeks, according to Sonsoem.
Thai Kit, located at 222C Post Road in Fairfield, is open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Friday, noon to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 9:30 p.m on Sunday.
Thai Kit also offers catering and take-out service with free delivery within a five-mile radius.
