Author Of Most Popular ESPN Story To Speak At SHU In Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Kate Fagan, author of “What Made Maddy Run,” the most-watched feature on ESPN digital media, will speak at Sacred Heart University on Oct. 23.

Fagan, who expanded her story on Madison Holleran, a track and field athlete who committed suicide, to a full-length book, will take the stage at the Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts at 7 p.m.

Fagan writes for espnW, ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine. She is a panelist on ESPN’s “Around the Horn” and has appeared on “Outside the Lines.”

Her espnW story on Holleran got over 3 million hits. A companion video for SportsCenter has garnered nearly seven million views.

Fagan’s book on Holleran made the New York Times Best Sellers list.

Fagan is also the author of “The Reappearing Act: Coming Out as Gay on a College Basketball Team Led by Born-Again Christians” and covered the 76s for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
