DARIEN, Conn. — Royle Elementary's Kids Care Club launched the new school year with a successful school supplies drive in Darien to raise donations for the Department of Children and Families in Bridgeport.
The DCF benefits from collections held throughout local towns, schools and churches, and Royle was happy to play their part, school officials said.
The supplies go to children in the foster care system.
Janet Singer, a social worker at the DCF, came to Royle to accept the supplies and talk to the Royle students about the challenges children in foster care face — both at home and in their school environments.
