Each year, Holmes School holds a Veterans Day Share by fifth-graders and honors veterans who are friends and family of the students. The fifth-grade class sings patriotic favorites like "God Bless America" and "Anchors Aweigh," and the students read original poems and essays illustrating the contributions of the armed forces.

The songs and prose are followed by the presentation of flags to local veterans, and students are called up to present a flag to their favorite veteran whom they invited to attend the assembly.
