DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien Board of Selectmen approved a town budget of $44.9 million for 2016-17 at the latest board meeting, a decrease of 4.49 percent from the 2015-16 budget, according to the Darien Times.
The majority of the cuts will come from employee benefit packages and decreasing energy prices, the Darien Times noted.
Spending cuts are expected to be about $2 million, reported the Darien Times.
The proposed budget now goes before the Board of Finance and a public meeting on March 8, with a final vote expected in May, the Darien Times said.
