Thanksgiving time is one of the most dangerous times of the year to travel by car in the U.S., according to the National Safety Council. Across the nation, NCS estimates that 485 people died in car crashes this Thanksgiving holiday period.
On Monday, Nov. 30, around 4 p.m., State Police identified another victim.
Juan Carlos Delvalle, 53, of Waterbury died in a motor vehicle crash on Route 2 in Glastonbury on Sunday, Nov. 29, according to NBC Connecticut. Delvalle died when he lost control of the car he was driving around 6:30 p.m., police said, and hit a guardrail and then a rock wall.
Other fatal motor vehicle accidents that happened since Thanksgiving, Nov. 26, include:
- On Sunday, Nov. 29: Two motor-vehicle-crash on Route 8, near Exit 35 in Waterbury. Two women died: Jenny Moyet-Vazquez, 40, of Waterbury, and Samara Fulton, 31, of Waterbury.
- On Saturday, Nov. 28, a 41-year-old man, Timofey Radchenko, died after a crash on Route 44 in Pomfret.
- On Friday, Nov. 27, Mark Kibby, 52, of North Granby, died from a motorcycle crash in Southbury.
- On Wednesday, two people died in a crash in Clinton on I-95: Olger Armijos, 35, of New Haven, and Heraldo Solano, 41, also of New Haven.
