DARIEN, Conn. – A suspect has been charged in the theft of a car from the Darien train station last month, police said.
The theft was first reported to police on Oct. 22. The car had been left unlocked with its keys hidden in the center console when it was taken from the train station’s lot that day, according to police reports at the time.
Darien Police on patrols found the car parked in the residential lot of a Post Road building. Investigators interviewed residents of the complex, and one reported seeing a man get out of that car in the same lot, police said.
The witness identified Walter Mastalsz, 40, of the same Post Road complex out of a photo lineup, according to Darien Police reports. Mastalsz was arrested on a warrant last week, police said.
Mastalsz was charged with third-degree larceny by possession. He was held on a $2,500 bond, and is due in court on Dec. 5.
