DARIEN, Conn. --  A woman wearing a bright yellow jacket robbed a Chase Bank in Darien at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon, police said.

A white female walked into the Chase Bank on Noroton Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. and approached an employee, police said. She then displayed a firearm and demanded cash, police said.

She was described as approximately 5 feet, 3 inches tall and wearing a bright yellow hooded jacket, police said. She left the bank with an undetermined amount of cash in a blue shopping bag, police said.

Police said that an active investigation is underway and asked anyone with information regarding the incident, or knows the identity of the suspect responsible, to contact the Darien Police Detective Division at 203-662-5330.

In a similar robbery on Jan. 30, a white woman brandishing a gun robbed the Greenwich Bank and Trust branch at 1103 E. Putnam Ave. in Greenwich. That suspect was described as an approximately 40-year-old white woman, short and weighing about 100 pounds with dark hair in a pixie cut, and wearing sunglasses and a dark pea coat.

In a more recent bank robbery in the area, a unarmed white man believed to be in his 50s robbed the TD Bank branch on Greenwich Avenue in Greenwich in broad daylight on Sunday afternoon, according to Greenwich police.

No arrests have been made in either Greenwich bank robbery.
