Officers at the Darien Police Department received a call at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, from a friend who said that his friend was intoxicated and could not be located. Police were told that he had last been seen at the CVS on Post Road.

According to police, investigators were given a description of a “tall, thin white man.” While officers were checking the area for the missing person, they were dispatched to Dunkin’ Donuts on Post Road, where there were reports of an unruly customer.

When officers arrived, they found a man - later identified as Manhattan resident Courtney Moncure, 19, matching the description of the missing person, who had been arguing with an employee, according to police.

Police said that an employee reported hearing loud noises coming from the restroom earlier, and when Moncure came out, the employee asked if everything was alright.

“In response, Moncure became belligerent,” according to a police report. “At one point Moncure picked up a ‘Wet Floor’ sign that was nearby and threw it at the wall, causing damage. Moncure continued to be hostile at which point the employee called the police.”

Responding officers noted that there was damage to a bathroom mirror and when asked about the incident, Moncure refused to answer questions. When he was placed under arrest, Moncure “became belligerent towards officers, to include using racial slurs. These outbursts took place in full view of patrons of the business.”

Moncure was taken to Darien Police Headquarters, where he was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace. Following his arraignment, he was released and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, June 18 to respond to the charges.
