Darien Police say Lakeem Jetter, 28, of Bridgeport turned himself in on Sunday, Nov. 3.

Police responded to a two-car accident near the area of Post Road and Hampton Road on Friday, Sept. 20 around 5:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers allegedly observed a tan Buick sedan that had sustained severe front and side damage and a Honda Civic with heavy front end damage.

Police say Jetter, the driver of the Buick, had glassy, bloodshot eyes during questioning and treatment of minor injuries. He also allegedly seemed confused about where he was.

Police also say Jetter gave several different versions of the accident and went in and out of consciousness several times, returning to an alert state.

Witness accounts of the accident stated that Jetter was driving east on Post Road, swerved several times over the double-yellow lines and significantly fluctuated in speed, police say. It was determined that the vehicle crossed the double-yellow line and struck a westbound vehicle head-on, according to police.

While inventorying Jetter’s vehicle prior to towing, officers allegedly discovered an open 8 mg package of Suboxone.

Police applied for and were granted a warrant for Jetter’s arrest after determining that he was allegedly driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance.

After turning himself in, Jetter was processed and charged with operating under the influence, failure to insure a motor vehicle and failure to drive right. He was released on a $250 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Nov. 18.
