Long Island Man Charged In Connection With Fatal Overdose

A Long Island man has been charged in connection with a fatal overdose, police say.

Nassau County Police say the investigation of a fatal overdose in Wantagh led to the discovery and arrest of Jack Gisonda, 54, of Franklin Square on Wednesday, Oct. 17 around 2:35 p.m.

Gisonda was found to be in possession of morphine pills at the time of his arrest, police say.

Gisonda was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, Oct. 18 at First District Court in Hempstead.

“The Nassau County Police Department reminds the public that as part of Operation Natalie and our Multi Prong Approach of Education, Awareness, Enforcement, Treatment, Diversion and After Care Visits, we will be continuing with our zero-tolerance response to any and all illegal drug activity within the County,” said NCPD officials.
