Over the past several weeks, the Darien Police Department Selective Enforcement Unit uncovered information that Kevin Grant, 25, of Shady Acres Road was selling heroin in town, police said.
Police said that an investigation found that Grant possessed prescription drugs and was selling heroin in Darien during October 2015. Last week, officers were able to obtain an arrest warrant stemming from the 2015 incident, according to police.
While waiting to serve the arrest warrant, investigators found out that Grant would be conducting a heroin sale in the southwest section of town, police said. Selective Enforcement Unit officers and officers from the patrol division conducted surveillance in the Boston Post Road area.
Shortly after 7 p.m. officers observed a vehicle being operated by Grant arrive at the location where the transaction was to take place, according to police reports. Officer swooped in and pulled Grant’s vehicle over and quickly took him into custody, police said.
Grant suffered minor injuries during his arrest and was later treated and released by Darien EMS Post 53, police said. During the incident, three bags of heroin were recovered, according to police. Once placed under arrest, Grant’s vehicle was searched with the assistance of Norwalk Police K-9 “Maverick” and subsequently towed.
Grant was transported to Darien Police Headquarters for booking and was charged with possession of narcotics and sale of narcotics. He is being held on $250,000 bond and remains in the custody of the Darien Police Department.
