A driver was heading south on West Norwalk Road at approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, July 29, when the vehicle came to a complete stop at the intersection with Post Road.
When making the turn, police said that a bicyclist, who was riding east on Post Road in the shoulder of the westbound lanes, was struck by the vehicle. Investigators noted that both the bicyclist and driver agreed and stated that the vehicle had come to a stop at the stop sign at the intersection.
Police said that the bicyclist complained of pain, but denied paramedics’ offers to transport him to an area hospital. Officers at the scene then gave the bicyclist a verbal warning for improper operation of a bicycle for traveling on the shoulder of the roadway against traffic.
