DARIEN, Conn. - Roger Carrington Howes, a resident of Darien, died Aug. 31. He was 89.

Howes was born Dec. 12, 1924, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Allen P. and Marian Hudson Howes. He graduated with a B.S. degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. He was the owner of Howes Real Estate and Appraisal Co. He served with the U.S. Navy from December 1942 to January 1946 as a signalman on the U.S.S. Clinton and U.S.S. Miller. He was a member of the American Legion.

Howes is survived by his wife, Mary Francis Lantry Howes; sons, Scott W. Howes (Pamela Maestri-Howes) of Easton, Mark K. Howes (Karen L.) of Nunda, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Allen Howes of Lake Forest, Ill.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 19 at Union Memorial Church, 58 Church St., Stamford. Burial will be private.
