Real-life ghost and demon hunter and paranormal investigator Lorraine Warren has died, her family reported.

Warren died in her sleep at her Monroe home on Thursday, April 18. She was 92.

Warren and her late husband, Ed Warren, who died in 2006, were known throughout the world for their work that inspired movies, including the "Conjuring" horror franchise.

"It is with deep sadness that I must announce that Lorraine Warren has passed away," said her son-in-law, Tony Spera in a Facebook post. "She died peacefully in her sleep at home last night."

Both Warren's were world-renowned paranormal investigators whose casework inspired paranormal enthusiasts around the globe. One of their most famous cases led to the film, “The Amityville Horror.”

"Lorraine touched many lives and was loved by so many," her son-in-law wrote. "She was a remarkable, loving, compassionate and giving soul."

The founders of The New England Society for Psychic Research, organization members said on their Facebook page that they had lost their loving teacher, mentor, friend, and mother.

Another of the couple's high-profile cases included a reportedly-possessed Raggedy Ann doll that inspired the 2014 movie “Annabelle."

The family, who requested privacy at this time, said: "Lorraine touched many lives and was loved by so many. She was a remarkable, loving, compassionate and giving soul. To quote Will Rogers, she never met a person she didn’t like."

When not busy with the paranormal, Warren was an avid animal lover and contributed to many animal charities and rescues.
