If, like our own Jacque Burt , you cant wait until May 19 for Dariens Whole Foods to open, the store invites you to attend its open house this Monday, May 17 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The new location is just off the Post Road at 150 Ledge Road. The cost is a $10 donation to Person to Person, a local charity that provides food to families in need.
Throughout the night, Wilton-based jazz artist Arthur Lipner will provide the background music. And Whole Foods employees will be around teaching partygoers about locally-produced foods and healthy eating.
But the real star will be the food. At different points throughout the store there will be more than 30 different dishes, most locally supplied. Appetizers include Bluepoint oysters on the half shell, sashimi tuna steak, and pesto and goat cheese crostini. For the main course, there will be sliced round ribeye on a baguette, potato gnocchi with puttanesca sauce, Manhattan chili, and many more. And for dessert, theyll have Daphnes Tarts, Cold Fusion gelato, Heavenly Souffles and various other sweets.
The store will officially open for business at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 19. First Selectman Dave Campbell will help in the bread breaking ceremony, when an eight-foot, fresh-baked baguette will be cut instead of a ribbon to commemorate the Grand Opening. If youd like to attend Mondays gala, RSVP at http://darien.wholefoodsmarketevents.com .
