FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- A flash flood warning has been issued for Fairfield County and the area until 6:15 p.m. Sunday.
A complex band of thunderstorms producing heavy rain is moving through the area with flash flooding expected to begin shortly, according to the National Weather Service. The warning went into effect at 3:23 p.m. Sunday.
The storms could produce heavy rain, gusty winds, small hail and frequent lightning.
The stormy weather is expected to continue to Tuesday morning with parts of the area getting as much as 4 inches of rainfall.
