Fairfield County Teen Nabbed For Shooting Man Walking On Street, Police Say

A 14-year-old Fairfield County boy has been arrested for allegedly shooting a man in the leg as he was walking down a city street.

The incident took place in Stamford around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19 on Woodland Avenue.

According to Lt. Tom Scanlon of the Stamford Police, a 32-year-old Stamford man was shot in the leg as he was walking on Woodland Avenue.

The victim’s injury was non-life threatening but would require surgery, Scanlon said.

Responding officers and Major Crime investigators located six bullet casings at the scene, identified witnesses, and recovered video evidence. 

The investigation showed that the victim was targeted by the shooter who was identified as a Stamford resident, Scanlon added.

"This juvenile has had prior interactions with the Stamford Police Department," he added.

The teen was arrested around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22 in the Southend section of Stamford. 

Once the juvenile suspect was in custody, Investigators executed search warrants at two locations in Stamford. Evidence was recovered, however, the firearm was not located, Scanlon said.

The juvenile suspect’s name is not being released and he was remanded to the custody of the state.
