DARIEN, Conn. — Community members can gain actionable information on the opioid epidemic during two upcoming events at the Darien Library.
On Thursday, Oct. 12, the library will host a training session and demonstration on how to acquire and administer Narcan, which is used to combat opioid overdoses. Legislative efforts and other resources to combat the opioid crisis will also be discussed, and free Narcan kits will be distributed courtesy of Silver Hill Hospital. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.
On Wednesday, Oct. 18, the Darien Library will begin its annual MedEd series with a discussion on the Opioid Epidemic and Alternative Pain Management Options. The program will be presented by Ofer M. Wellisch, MD, MPH. Wellisch attended Sackler School of Medicine and completed his residency at Maimonides Medical Center, and is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Pain Medicine and specializes in pain management. The discussion will be held at 7 p.m.
The Darien Library is co-sponsoring the events with Silver Hill Hospital, Communities 4 Action, the YWCA of Darien/Norwalk, the Darien Health Department, and Stamford Hospital.
