Be Someone's Hero In This Year's 'Y Games' At The Darien Y

DARIEN, Conn. -- Those at the Darien Y are committed to strengthening their community. Whether it’s through special needs programs, the cancer rehabilitation program, or providing group fitness programming at a local senior center, the Y is committed to benefiting all, and never turning anyone away for the inability to pay.

This year, the Darien Y will be hosting the second annual Y Games: Team Charity Challenge on June 12. Participants in the Y Games compete in teams of four in seven different fitness events, in either the Family or Adult divisions. This is the Y’s signature fundraising event, with all proceeds of the Y Games going to our Financial Assistance program, which provided over $500,000 in financial aid to children, families, and seniors last year, it truly is a community event.

So, with our community in mind, I have two questions for you:

1) Will you participate in the second annual Y Games: Team Charity Challenge, on June 12th?

2) Do you want to get a leg up on the competition, while also getting your body back in shape for the summer months ahead, by signing up for our Y Games: Team Training package?

If you answered “yes” to question one, you will be taking part in a fun and challenging community-wide competition, while also helping the Darien Y to provide services to those in need. Visit our website for more information about the Y Games including FAQs, fun photos from the 2015 competition, and information for those interested in becoming a sponsor of this great event.

If you answered “yes” to question two, you are already on your way to a victory, whether it be in the Y Games, or victory over a personal health and wellness goal. The Y Games: Team Training package is designed to focus on the three key components of health and fitness: training, proper fuel for your body through nutritional counseling, and recovery.

Each participant in this 8-week program will receive 16 bi-weekly training sessions with our certified Personal Trainers, 5 health coaching sessions, 8 yoga sessions exclusively designed for the Y Games: Team Training participants, and 7 “Aqua for Athletes” sessions focusing on cardiovascular endurance, strength, and muscle balance in a low-impact setting. Participants will also receive incentives such as 20% off massage therapy at the Y for the 8-week duration, and weekly emails containing tips, recipes, and workouts from our trainers to keep you focused. The Team Training program will run from April 17 to June 11.
