DARIEN, Conn. -- Chuck’s Steak House in Darien will end a 46-year run on Post Road on Sunday, when it closes for good.
An announcement on the restaurant’s website delivered the news. “We have had the privilege of serving generations since 1968, but it is all coming to an end,’’ the state said. “A special thank-you for being part of our family for the past 46 years. Our last day of serving you will be Sunday, December 7th.”
Chuck’s has five other Connecticut locations, including one in Danbury. The other restaurants are not expected to be affected by the closing. Chuck’s also has restaurants in Hawaii, South Carolina, Massachusetts, California and Florida.
Known for its all-you-could-eat salad bars, open grills and informal atmosphere, the restaurant was also a popular place to hold parties and holiday gatherings.
The Darien restaurant is at 1340 Post Road. Another popular Darien restaurant, Friendly’s, closed in September after a 40-year run. That restaurant was also on Post Road.
