Coast Guard Member From Area, 35, Dies In Crane Accident A member of the Coast Guard from the area died in a crane accident in Alaska, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. The fatality occurred Thursday, Jan. 31 following the accident at the Coast Guard buoy yard in Homer, Alaska. Two Saved After Boat Crash On Housatonic Two boaters out for a day of fun on the water were rescued after their fishing boat lost power and drifted into rocks on the break wall of the Housatonic River. The rescue took place around 11 a.m. Monday when firefighters from the Stratford Fire Department received a 911 call from the two men, said Assistant Chief Mike Camperlengo.
